No more AAA batteries in the candlesticks.
Battery candles are handy right up until the batteries need changing. Two little batteries per candle, and there's always one candle that dies before the rest.
With Vela, you recharge instead. Pop all six candles in the charging base and plug in the USB-C cable. After about two hours they're good to go again, and one charge lasts around 70 hours, according to the manufacturer.
Candles in the candlesticks — even with a cat in the house.
Plenty of cat owners have given up lighting candles. One swish of a tail over a flame is all it takes, and nobody wants to leave the candelabra lit while they nip into the kitchen.
Vela has no flame. The tip is an LED shaped like a flame, so the candelabra can stay lit on the sideboard even when the cat wanders past.
Switch them on and off without getting up.
On ordinary battery candles, the switch is underneath. So every candle has to be lifted out of its holder to turn it off — six times, every evening.
Vela comes with a remote control. Switch them on and off from the sofa, or press the timer — 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours — and the candles go off by themselves once you've gone to bed.
The Christmas present for anyone who always has candles in the window.
For Mum, Gran or the neighbour who puts a candle in every candlestick come December — and sometimes forgets to blow them out.
Six taper candles, a charging base and a remote control in one set. The timer switches them off if nobody else does.
